Kids Creations Artists in the Community

Kids Creations staff are always looking for different ways to contribute to our local community. We are so proud that our staff take the time to reach out in our community and we'd thought it would be nice to showcase some of their work so we can share our accomplishments with our extended Kids Creations family.

Anti-Grafitti Mural in Kitchener, Ontario

One of our Directors, Sanjeev Rajput, was contacted by the Waterloo Regional Police to help them come up with a mural to cover a 100 foot long concrete retaining wall on Morgan avenue. The objective were clear, they needed to prevent kids from "tagging" the wall with graffitti and find away to incorporate the children from the community.

Sanj worked closely with Constables Lisa Nyusa and Mark Koiter, and the Chicoppee Community Centre Staff to help plan and implement the anti-graffitti mural.

Kids Creations helped out by using their contacts to get Canvases, Paints, and Brushes for the children to use at a significant savings to help keep the project costs down.

The idea they came up with was to have the local community children paint 8x10 canvases and Sanjeev would incorporate those pictures into the mural. The mural was designed and drawn on a computer, and then printed onto 22 individual 4 foot by 8 foot panels.

The panels were made from lexan plastic, making them graffitti-proof, fire-proof and even bullet-proof! The modular nature of the design also means the city can replace individual panels if they are ever damaged. View the original retaining wall on Google Maps Street View.
